Farm Forestry -Trees at Work is made up of 28 activities divided into 6 sections.
- Finding out about trees and how they affect me.
- Where does the timber I use come from?
- What is farm forestry?
- How can farm forests help sustainable land management?
- Making it real - Investigating some farm forestry sites.
- What role does farm forestry have in our future?
Students will learn that farm forestry has many benefits, not only in the supply of timber products but also in the form of ecosystem goods and services and environmental benefits such as carbon sequestration, erosion prevention and salinity control.
Students also learn that these benefits only occur if forestry plantations are grown in strategic areas of the catchment, other wise other issues can arise. These are also investigated.
