The Landcare Education program is a Department of Primary Industries program which is supported by the Departments of Sustainability and Environment and Education and Early Childhood Development (Strategic Partnerships Program).
The program aims to:
- Use practical, hands on educational activities to teach children about sustainable natural resource management.
- Highlight the students' role in conservation.
- Ensure all programs are delivered within a Landcare context and emphasise Landcare principles.
- Develop greater understanding and action within the community for Landcare and natural resource issues.
The program services students from pre-school age through to tertiary level and also works within the wider community.
The Landcare Education program works with DPI's LandLearn program, a sustainable agriculture education program, working collaboratively to deliver teacher professional learning sessions. The program offers activities run on site at the Parks Victoria Creswick site, in schools and at community sites around the state.

Junior Landcare
Through accessing junior landcare grants for their school and community projects, schools and other junior landcare groups are actively involved in landcare projects. Tasks include water quality monitoring, tree planting, plant and animal surveys, plant propagation, seed collection and weed control.
